Your list of foods that you can consume in the first postoperative period and your sample nutrition program is valid for the first week from the day you start feeding. The number of days of the week is 7 days for sleeve gastrectomy, duodenal switch or transit bipartition, and  5 days for gastric bypass. During the first week after the surgery, you may need to eat a liquid food-based diet. Our goal is to feed by sipping all day for first week.

FREE NUTRIENTS FOR FIRST WEEK: Water, roth soup, chicken soup, grain-free and sugar-free compote, diluted fruit juice, herbal teas, and lactose-free milk.

Eat little and often, with 3 main meals and 3 snacks a day.

Do not consume more than 200 mL (approximately one glass of water) at a meal.

Consume foods and all fluids slowly.

When you feel full, stop feeding.

Wait 1-2 minutes between sips.

You should avoid ready-made foods, even liquids. Especially, prefer fruit juices prepared at home instead of ready-made fruit juices.

Since problems such as bloating, gas, nausea, cramps and diarrhea may occur after consuming milk and dairy products containing lactose, you should prefer lactose-free products in order not to increase gas problems after surgery.

You should not add sugar to beverages such as compote, milk and fruit juice, and you should not prefer foods with high sugar content.

Do not forget to use the acid-reducing drugs and vitamin syrup regularly.

During the liquid period, your water consumption should be at least 1.5 liters per day. This is equivalent to about 6 cups. Remember, no beverage can replace water!
