(For tube stomachs, the number of days of the week is 7 days,

The number of days per week for Gastric Bypass patients is 5 days)

Welcome aboard!  You are in the first diet phase that you will apply to your tiny stomach.  The list of foods you can consume during this period and your sample nutrition program is valid for 15 days from the day you start feeding after the surgery. Our goal is to feed by sipping all day. You can consume the food you want at any meal you want.

FREE FOODS:

  • Grain-free and sugar-free compote

  • Diluted juices…

  • Herbal teas

LIQUID PERIOD HAS TWO STAGES, CLEAR LIQUID AND LIQUID

CLEAR LIQUID PERIOD: Water, broth, soup, compote, light teas are free. It is applied in the first 3 days after the operation. Once you start feeding in the hospital, your period begins.

LIQUID PERIOD:All the nutrients listed above are free, administered between the 3rd and 15th days.

Since problems such as bloating, gas, nausea, cramps and diarrhea may occur after consuming normal milk and dairy products, you should prefer lactose-free products in order not to increase post-operative gas problems. You can sweeten your water and milk with cinnamon sticks.

You should not use flour, starch, vermicelli and other granular additives in your soups. You should not add any seasonings other than very little salt. If you have too much gas, you can add a small amount of cumin to your soups.

During the liquid period, your water consumption should be a minimum of 1.5-2  liters per day. (6-8 glasses) Remember; No beverage can replace water, except water. Do not use a straw when consuming water and other liquids.

Use stomach protectant and other drugs if your doctor has prescribed/suggested.

3rd and 4th WEEKS AFTER SURGERY : PURE PERIOD

(For tube stomachs, the number of days of the week is 7 days,

The number of days per week for Gastric Bypass patients is 5 days)

You are in your new diet period, which you will apply for two weeks between the 15th day and the 1st month of the surgery. During this period, you should eat the foods you consume with the help of a blender until they reach a puree consistency or crush them with a fork. From the first day you enter this period, you should feed by trying a new food every day. You should consume meals according to tolerance, and in case of discomfort, you should remove that food from your diet for a while. You have to get into the habit of chewing well. After trying all the dishes in order, you can increase the amounts over time.

FREE FOODS:

  • FOODS IN THE LIQUID PERIOD ARE FREE. IN ADDITION;

  • Egg (soft-boiled)

  • Cheese (light, curd or strained)

  • Vegetables (boiled and blenderized)

  • Fruits (peeled and blenderized)

  • Baby foods (with less than 10 grams of sugar per serving)

  • Vegetable dishes with minced meat and chicken (blendered)

  • Boilless fish meat (boiled)

  • Activia

  • Tea

  • Coffee

  • Turkish coffee

THINGS TO PAY ATTENTION:

  • You should not consume very hard-cooked eggs. (7-8 min)

  • Instead of salty and fatty cheeses, you should prefer curd or cottage cheese.

  • You should NEVER consume raw vegetables. Consume all vegetables by peeling their skins. Your preferences should be seasonal vegetables.

  • It will be more comfortable to consume vegetables with soft consistency. You can use zucchini, carrots, potatoes.

  • Every meal should have a source of protein. You can mix your vegetables with minced meat-chicken or milk-yogurt.

  • Cook as boiled, steamed or juicy food instead of frying.

  • Acidic-carbonated drinks, nuts, popcorn and ready-to-eat foods should not be consumed.

  • When you heat the cooked meat dishes and consume them again, the dried meat may cause discomfort to your stomach. If possible, cook as many meals as possible.

  • If you are going to consume ready-made food, you should read the labels. Foods containing more than 10 grams of sugar per serving, fruit juices should not be preferred.

  • Doughy dishes, bread, pasta, rice are not suitable for you even if they are pureed.

  • You can consume tea and coffee, but as they are diuretic drinks, they cause excess water excretion from the body, so choose water.

  • Recommended fruits are seasonal fruits. You can increase your protein by making puree with milk and yogurt.

  • You should start “SOLIID LIQUID SEPARATION”, which should not be consumed 30 minutes before and after meals, and you should pay attention to this rule throughout your life. Liquids consumed at the same time with meals can cause DUMPING SYNDROME.

  • If you have trouble drinking water, you can sweeten it with flavorings such as bar  cinnamon, mint, sliced orange. You can drink up to 2 liters of water per day. Drink no more than 1 glass of water at a time.

  • For constipation that may occur during and after this period; You can consume prunes and apricots in the form of marmalade by pulling them from the blender, or in the form of compote by boiling. You can drink shaken apricot tea. You should definitely eat one probiotic yogurt every day. You can include kefir for the night meal. When you increase the amount of water you drink and your walks, the problem will disappear.

  • When you are weighed out of your control, you may see an increase in your weight, the reason is edema. It will give you the most accurate result to be weighed at the same scale all the time, after going to the toilet on an empty stomach in the morning, and having moved for about 10 minutes.

  • When you pass the puree period and have problems with swallowing and digestion, do not continue with the liquid period and change the type of your meals. Contrary to popular belief, applying a long-term liquid diet does not help to lose weight; It can make you sluggish by preventing the energy you need to take.

SOLID PERIOD NUTRITION PROGRAM (30.DAY-3.MONTH)

(For tube stomachs, the number of days of the week is 7 days,

The number of days per week for Gastric Bypass patients is 5 days)

During this period when you start to eat normally, you can eat foods without puree. You can consume all the foods you eat in the 1st and 2nd periods. The first food group we should consume is protein. Proteins should be our priority for the first 2 years in order to protect our existing muscles, accelerate fat burning, and tighten the flexible skin caused by excess weight.

The main sources of protein and the amount of protein per serving are as follows:

You should get 60-80 grams of protein each day during the solid period and for the next 2 years. Since it is not possible to complete this measure with the shrinking stomach volume, your first choice at every meal should always be foods that are a source of protein. By calculating the amount of protein you get from foods according to the amounts written under the pictures above, you can provide the missing amount from supplemental proteins if necessary. Detailed protein calculation is at the end of the lists.

As a result of a diet deficient in protein:

Muscle loss:Instead of body fat tissue, they use muscle tissue as an energy source and you lose muscle.

Hair loss:Foods that are sources of protein are rich in omega oils and vitamins. In insufficient protein; hair loss, nail breakage and even minor bumps can cause damage.

Weakness:Fatigue is seen due to decreased muscle tissue and slowing metabolic rate.

Late feeling of fullness:Compared to other food groups, when the proteins that are emptied late from the stomach are taken insufficiently, it causes a feeling of hunger immediately after eating.

Edema:Since there will be water and muscle loss, the body tends to water retention and accumulates edema.

Disturbance in weight balance:When insufficient protein is taken, there will be muscle and water loss instead of adipose tissue; When you drink even water, the body wants to store it, and this can be reflected on the scale as weight gain.

Hormone and enzyme system disorders:When the proteins, which are our basic building blocks, are taken insufficiently, enzymatic events are slowed down or disrupted. Our digestive, absorption, excretory and nervous systems do not perform adequately. Easy mood swings, constipation or diarrhea, bowel sounds are examples.

IF YOU WANT THE LOSS WON'T COME BACK;NUTRITIONISTYou should not let go of the control, you may have a wrong order that you know is right. The surgery you have had should be a milestone for you, and after that, you should acquire a healthy and correct eating habit with the help of a specialist.
